The development of a module does not stop when it is released. After first release of the module, bugs are found and fixed, functionality is changed to make the module more efficient, the code is restructured to make it more efficient and modular, etc. etc.
We get feature request from users via the issue queue and our contact form to add new features to the module. We also added a lot of new features which we thought where useful additions. The module started as a simple basic slideshow module, evolved to a more advanced slideshow module with more settings, support for image cache (acouch), support for different pagers, support for themes, etc. Next features are e.g. AJAX loading of content, TABS for pager-items, a Scroller for pager-items, DDblock as a views plugin.
Since the module exists, documentation has always been a high priority for us. All kinds of documentation are provided with the module to help others in using the dynamic display block module. The module can be used for all kinds of different purposes in combination with other modules. We are always trying to make the documentation complete and easy to understand. We learned how to make a video tutorial, which was great fun. We hope that you will write down, what is not clear and report it to us, so we can improve the documentation for future users.
Also support is one of our main priorities. We want to help users to get the module up and running on their site. We know the module adds additional functionallity to Internet sites, in an attractive way. We get questions from a wide range of users; users who are using Drupal for many years to users which just using Drupal for one day, users which are developers themselves or users who just manage to run a Drupal Internet site for their town football club. We will answers all the support requests, questions, feature request, bug reports in the issue queue, the forums on the site or send to us by contact form.
We have made Sunday - Donation day!!! We made a commitment to ourselves to donate every Sunday to the community. A donation can be e.g. a new tutorial, a theme, module releases, etc.
Like all, we also have to keep our hosted server running to provide all the extra documentation supporting the module.
We hope this information gives you an overview what is involved in developing and maintaining a module, the way we do.
We need your help and support!
Any donation you can give back is highly appreciated.
We want to thank all the persons who donated their time, support and money to help us improve the dynamic display block module.
Greetings,
Philip and Iren
